The Year That Was And What Will Be
So 2011 was a strange year. It was a year that I was simultaneously selfish and swept up in others’ lives. I think for 2012, I will try to be less selfish, but I will also not allow others to dictate my existence. This will be difficult, as I love the path of least resistance. It’s so wide and smooth, and well taken. But, I think with some maturity, I make my own road.
The theme for 2012 is Becoming A Grownup. In which I resolve the following:
- Be more politically active.
- Listen more; talk less.
- Run a 5K.
- Meet some people older than me.
- Eat out less often — especially not eating at sandwich shops (I love sandwich shops, but it’s silly to have them make me lunch when I can easily make my own sandwich).
- Get a raise.*
- Go on 1 internet date. At least to write about the experience.*
- Write more.
- Stop contacting people from the past.
- Travel outside the United States.*
* OK these 3 may not happen. They are more like hopes than resolutions.
